Executing meaningful research with electronic resources can be daunting. This hands on workshop will take participants on a journey through the world of the "Natural Disaster" by utilizing the "Big 6 Research Cycle" and information technologies. Participants will role-play, as teams of researchers they will strengthen their searching skills while using various Internet resources as they gather information that may save their life. The workshop models how the educators can facilitate their students ability to conduct more meaningful research using the Internet and the Big 6 research cycle.

Instructional components include: hands on computer usage, Internet searching strategies, Web site evaluation, the Big 6 research process & skills, mapping activity and group collaboration.

Software Used: Inspiration Software, Internet Explorer or Netscape and Microsoft Word or AppleWorks.
